Edwin Starr
in Starr - The ‘Soul Master’
Well here it is at long last after seven years of sitting in the can as it were, the publication in Real Media format of my interview with Soul/Motown legend Edwin Starr. This interview contains nearly all the links as used in the three hour Motown spectacular which was broadcast in October 1994 across the airwaves of the North West of England and North Wales.

This interview is reproduced from my soul radio shows of 1994 and concentrates on Edwin’s career at Motown/Ric-Tic. It does not delve into his post Motown years with RCA/20th Century and other associated labels of which he enjoyed much chart success with the likes of ‘Contact’ and ‘Happy RADIO’ etc.

Before using any of the links please be aware that the first two* are presented in medium wave radio format as the original master tape was damaged, and the only way I could piece the complete show together was to use excerpts from the radio station archives. The show itself whilst broadcast in medium wave only, is reproduced here using my original studio master tape version to give you the listener the best sound quality possible.

Please note that this interview is presented on the internet as a reference guide only and no part of it may be reproduced in any way without the permission of Kyle Management/Bill Randle/Alan Taylor.

Additional notes.

For those of you who have had the pleasure of meeting this great man in person will no doubt agree with me when I say that he is a most genuine and sincere person who always takes time to speak with his fans. His success over the last forty years has not gone to his head, which is something we see so much in this day and age with today’s artists, and he remains a gentleman and hero of the soul scene, a title that is well justified. He really is the - ‘Soul Master’

To listen to every link will take about 40 minutes.

Don’t forget to pass on this URL to other soul fans across the globe who you feel may want to access this interview.
